Making a Ruffled Bonnet

Sewing is really hard in my honest opinion. It's like working with 2D and imagining things work in 3D.

A beagle plush toy wearing the finished bonnet: lavender gingham with a pale pink lace ruffle around the face, tied under the chin with a wide lace bow.

This was one crazy project that took an entire day to make. I had to sit down and calm down and focus on the task at hand. I didn’t even eat, drink, or take a break. I ended up making mistakes, although somewhat salvageable. I didn’t have an iron rod to make the border stiff so it became floppy. Not that I would want any, because that iron is going to rust anyway.

The bonnet lying flat on a wooden table: lavender gingham, gathered at the back, with cream lace along the brim and two gold satin ribbons.
